These terms apply when you install or use the Smart Filter extension and buy a plan. They are written to be read. If something is unclear, ask us.

What Smart Filter does

Smart Filter is a Chrome extension that hides, blurs or dims items on web pages according to rules you write. Keyword rules run on your device. AI rules send item text to our server for classification as described in the privacy policy. You need to agree to that before AI rules run. AI rules never run on a built-in list of email, chat and banking sites (see the privacy policy). Up to 3 AI rules run on one site, and a site can use at most 300 AI checks an hour.

Free use and credits

• Keyword rules are free and unlimited.
• AI rules start with up to 1,000 free checks per install, then 50 free checks a day.
• One check is one item checked against your AI rules. Items that were already checked are remembered and cost nothing.
• Credits you buy and any starter checks never expire. They stay in your balance after you cancel a plan.
• Daily free checks are used first, then credits. When both are used up, AI rules pause until the free checks reset at midnight UTC.

Plans and payment

• Plans are subscriptions that bill every 2 months through Polar, our merchant of record. The price shown per month is the plan's price divided by two billing months: 5 USD, 19 USD or 49 USD a month, charged as 10, 38 or 98 USD every 2 months, and the credits are added with each payment. A plan change applies from the next billing cycle.
• A plan renews until you cancel. You can cancel at any time in the Polar customer portal; the plan then ends after the period you have already paid for. Credits from a cancelled plan stay usable: enter the licence key again and the extension lists them as credits from a past plan.
• Prices include or exclude sales tax as shown at checkout. Polar handles payment, invoices and tax.
• Statutory rights of withdrawal and refunds apply as set out at checkout and by the law of your country.

AI filtering is best effort

AI models make mistakes. Smart Filter may hide items you wanted to see and may miss items you wanted hidden. We do not promise that a rule catches every matching item or that results are the same from day to day. Every filtered item can be shown with one click. Do not rely on Smart Filter to protect anyone from content that could cause harm.

Using the service fairly

Do not use the server without the extension, resell access, bypass limits, or send content in order to attack or overload the service. We may rate limit or block abusive use, and we may change the free allowance or limit free AI checks if costs require it. Credits you bought are not affected.

Availability and changes

We try to keep the service running but cannot promise it is always available. We may change or end features. If we end the service, we will tell you in advance and refund credits you paid for but have not used. We may update these terms; for changes that disadvantage you we will give notice in the extension or by email where we have your address.

Warranty and liability

Smart Filter is provided as is, without any warranty beyond what the law requires. We are fully liable for intent, gross negligence, injury to life, body or health, and where mandatory law (for example product liability law) applies. For slight negligence we are liable only for the breach of an essential obligation, and then only for the foreseeable damage typical for this kind of contract. Otherwise liability is excluded. Rights you have as a consumer under the law of your country are not limited by these terms.

Governing law

German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer rules of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim in the courts there.
